House Democrats will propose a bill Tuesday that would extend the N.S.A’s wiretapping permissions for years to come. This is seen as an attempt to ensure that they don’t come off as soft on terrorism. However, it is important to note that:
“We are giving the N.S.A. what it legitimately needs for national security but with far more limitations and protections than are in the Protect America Act,” said Brendan Daly, a spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California.
