While we’re waiting to hear the results of the Iowa caucuses, Obama is getting a boost from another Democratic candidate. Like Dennis Kucinich’s recent announcement, Bill Richardson is asking his voters to turn to Barack Obama, should he not prove a viable candidate.
Although the Obama campaign says that “no formal arrangements” have been made with Richardson, the interaction will likely occur at the individual precincts. Where Richardson does not gain enough support, they will push votes for Obama. Where Obama already has plenty of supporters, they will aid Richardson.
The latest Des Moines Register poll puts Richardson at 6 percent support, below Obama’s 32 percent, Clinton’s 25 percent, and Edwards’ 24 percent.
Stay tuned tonight for more coverage of the caucus as the results come in.
