Fred Thompson Drops Out of Race: And Doesn’t Make a Sound

Well, it’s not exactly surprising, but Fred Thompson, pictured above looking like a movie star, has officially dropped out of the presidential race today. After a disappointing third-place finish in South Carolina, a state that he had hoped to win, he decided to throw in the towel.

While he didn’t make an official endorsement of the remaining GOP candidates, his withdrawal could help Mike Huckabee, who competed for many of the same votes. Many Republicans think that Mike Huckabee placed second in South Carolina because Thompson took away so many of his votes. It could also help Mitt Romney who is currently attempting to win Florida conservatives.

I was just thinking the other day that Fred Thompson might be a popular vice president choice with his strong conservative values. We’ll see if this is the last we hear from Mr. Thompson. Those who miss him can always watch Die Hard 2.

Oh, and let’s hope I’m writing the same thing about John Edwards after his chance at South Carolina.
