McCain victorious in Florida; Giuliani to endorse

John McCain (“very niiiiiceeee” in Borat voice) won the Republican primaries in Florida Tuesday by a margin of 5%, 36% to 31% over Mitt Romney. Rudy Giuliani followed with 15% and Mike Huckabee trailed with 14%. Giuliani is expected to endorse McCain Wednesday which could be the final nail in the coffin for Romney. With McCain already getting all 57 crucial delegates in the winner-takes-all primaries in Florida and now with a Giuliani endorsement, a comeback for Romney seems unlikely. Oh, and don’t even mention Huckabee, his 15 minutes of fame have come and gone, not to mention his money. So we now look towards February 5th, which, dare I say it, may be all but decided after Giuliani’s announcement tomorrow. Apparently voters in Florida weren’t worried about McCain’s “straight-talk” promising future wars.

Hillary Clinton won a meaningless victory in Florida.  Just like Michigan, the Democratic National Committee has penalized Florida for moving its primary so early, and as a result, will not count any delegates from the state.  As far as delegates are concerned, Clinton, Obama and Edwards had a three way tie in Florida: all of them won zero delegates.

  1. I wouldn’t count Huckabee completely out. He may do just fine in the southern states next Tuesday. But, yeah, McCain will still do better overall.

  2. I look like a dinosaur.
