Black Clinton Supporters Having Second Thoughts

John Lewis a Democratic Representative from Georgia, pictured above wondering why he decided to touch the crazy woman, has decided to make the switch to Obama:

In recent days, there is a sense of movement and a sense of spirit. Something is happening in America, and people are prepared and ready to make that great leap.

Lewis, a superdelegate, said he could not go against the voting of his constituents and hopes to help prevent a fight amongst Democrats in the nominating process. He said he would be meeting with other lawmakers in the coming days to discuss a possible negotiation to solve the tight race:

If I can be used as a mediator, a negotiator or a peacemaker, I’d be happy to step in. I don’t want to see Mrs. Clinton damaged or Mr. Obama damaged.

Lewis had been one of HRC’s most prominent African-American supporters and joins fellow black Representative David Scott in the swich to Obama. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois had this to say about African-Americans supporting Obama:

If it comes down to the last day and you’re the only superdelegate? … Do you want to go down in history as the one to prevent a black from winning the White House?

Many of these guys have offered their support to Mrs. Clinton, but Obama has won their districts. So you wake up without the carpet under your feet. You might find some young primary challenger placing you in a difficult position.
