An endorsement to be proud of

 Policy rockstar

Lee Hamilton, vice chair of the September 11 commission and co-chair of the Iraq Study Group, plans to announce his endorsement of Senator Barack Obama today, the Associated Press learned late last night.  While the endorsement from Hamilton, a former Democratic representative from Indiana, isn’t likely to receive the same media attention as others have, it carries a more substantive than media significance to the Obama campaign.  Hamilton’s service on the House Foreign Affairs Committee lasted over thirty years and his work for both commissions are exemplars of bipartisan cooperation in American policy. We’re likely to hear the Obama campaign trumpet this new national security credential in coming weeks, and rightly so.

Update: Wyoming governor and superdelegate Dave Freudenthal also endorsed Obama this morning, calling Obama “the Democratic candidate with the openness, honesty and skill to end this vicious cycle of business as usual.”
